Preakness today!

Lucky thirteen. That’s the head count at the post – unless there is a scratch.

There will be no chance of a triple crown this year as Country House bowed out and the contested first finisher, Maximum Security, withdrew as well. Often trainers don’t want to push their horses if they don’t like the odds – too many other races for the risk.

So with the field wide open it could be anyone’s race. Who is it going to be?
The favorite Baffert’s “Improbable”?
War of Will?
Or your favorite longshot?

If you need a little luck pick up some from the gift shop where a hardback book of “the Black Stallion” is on sale at 50% off!! and that includes the combo with a Bucephalus figurine!

The race will be broadcast on NBC with post time for the race set at 6:48 p.m. ET.

    1. War of Will (4/1)
    2. Bourbon War (12/1)
    3. Warrior’s Charge (12/1)
    4. Improbable (5/2)
    5. Owendale (10/1)
    6. Market King (30/1)
    7. Alwaysmining (8/1)
    8. Signalman (30/1)
    9. Bodexpress (20/1)
    10. Everfast (50/1)
    11. Laughing Fox (20/1)
    12. Anothertwistafate (6/1)
    13. Win Win Win (15/1)

Leonard Maltin & Jeanne Rosenberg on the Black Stallion

Mickey Rooney as Henry Daily
Mickey Rooney as Henry Daily

Here’s an interview by my friend Elizabeth McCall at the Turner Classic Movie festival this summer. A wonderful screening of the Black Stallion film at the landmark Egyptian theater in Hollywood.
The movie was introduced by gifted screenwriter and equestrian wonder woman Jeanne Rosenberg and the renowned TCM film critic and historian writer Leonard Maltin.
Take a listen and drift away … back to riding alone on the beach!!

Elizabeth has done a LOT of great articles on horses!
