The Horse that Swam Away!

Here’s a local Venice story that came out today in the Gondalier.
Click on the book to see the newspaper story.
Those early days on the beach …. while I was trying to catch a manta ray’s tail!!

Dolphins, sharks, pirates, manta rays and those wild TURTLES!! Oh my!

Tim and Al Marah Athena (TENA) are the heros in this book of Dad’s set in Venice, Florida.

A couple pages from the book;

This one I think is very interesting as Ben Stahl was writing “BlackBeard’s Ghost” at the same time (1965) which became a Disney movie.  All the ‘kids’ went to school together at Out-of-Door on Siesta Key.
The Stahls lived just up the road on Casey Key.

Don’t forget to stop by the shop!!

Preakness today!

Lucky thirteen. That’s the head count at the post – unless there is a scratch.

There will be no chance of a triple crown this year as Country House bowed out and the contested first finisher, Maximum Security, withdrew as well. Often trainers don’t want to push their horses if they don’t like the odds – too many other races for the risk.

So with the field wide open it could be anyone’s race. Who is it going to be?
The favorite Baffert’s “Improbable”?
War of Will?
Or your favorite longshot?

If you need a little luck pick up some from the gift shop where a hardback book of “the Black Stallion” is on sale at 50% off!! and that includes the combo with a Bucephalus figurine!

The race will be broadcast on NBC with post time for the race set at 6:48 p.m. ET.

    1. War of Will (4/1)
    2. Bourbon War (12/1)
    3. Warrior’s Charge (12/1)
    4. Improbable (5/2)
    5. Owendale (10/1)
    6. Market King (30/1)
    7. Alwaysmining (8/1)
    8. Signalman (30/1)
    9. Bodexpress (20/1)
    10. Everfast (50/1)
    11. Laughing Fox (20/1)
    12. Anothertwistafate (6/1)
    13. Win Win Win (15/1)

Thanks for reading … and writing!

The Black in Sardinia

Merry Christmas!!!!

It’s already Christmas?? Hard to believe the year went by so fast! Sooo many things to see and do.

From Thanksgiving to New Years we always think about all the blessings from the past year! The people and places, the horses and their helpers, the hard work and lazy days – all the special memories.
There were heartbreaking stories of fires and loss, courageous stories of challenges and spirit.

Even some movie stars like Liam Neeson and Russell Crowe praised the horses this year.

An inspiring tale of perseverance and moving on, no matter what, in “the Rider”.

There was JUSTIFY, the Triple Crown winner.

And a story you won’t see every day, the reed Ponies of Peru and how the fishermen ride them!!

If you need a little good luck for 2019 don’t forget to stop by the store and pay Bucephalus a visit. You can keep him in your pocket every day whether that’s at work … or play!

But best of all it was spending time with the horses and horsepeople you Love.
Or maybe you just need to gallop down an empty beach!

What was your favorite moment?

Blessings & Joy for Christmas and have a Wonderful New Year!
Don’t forget to leave some hay out for Santa’s reindeer – as my Dad always did on Christmas eve!!

Thanks for riding bye,

Tim and Pamela Farley
